A Truly Unique Riding Experience

trailriding imageTrail rides are a great way for friends or families to spend time together, for people who may not be familiar with horses to become comfortable around them, for everyone to encounter nature up close and personally, and even to get some low-impact exercise (yep, you burn calories balancing on the back of a moving horse, even when it's only walking). It's also a way to make new friends with whom you know you have at least one thing in common!

Double H Stable has trails throughout its 250 acres!

Ready to enjoy the beauty of the Virginia countryside? Our trail rides have been highlighted in many publications—including The Washington PostBoston Globe, and numerous national and local travel magazines—because they provide nature-lovers with a truly unique horseback riding experience. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced rider, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy miles of open trails, wooded trails, rolling hills, and the thrill of crossing water. And unlike at other trail riding outfits, trotting and cantering are welcome on our trails.

Eager for a trail riding experience but never been on horseback before? Or maybe you have been but are still nervous around horses for one reason or another? Not a problem! Rest assured that while there is inherent risk in interacting with horses, your mount is always chosen with care, to match your riding ability. Please note that regardless of riding ability, helmets are required for riders under the age of 18 (we provide), and strongly recommended for riders 18 and over. To make your ride safer and more comfortable, ensure that on trail day you dress appropriately in a shirt, long pants, and sneakers (at minimum); shorts and flip-flops may seem like a great idea on a hot day but they aren't the best for passing through brush, never mind what a misplaced hoof could do to your toes!

We offer standard (public) rides and private rides (your choice of saddle for private rides), and the rates are a per-person charge. We do require 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel your ride, so if you need to change plans, don't forget to let us know ASAP!

If you're ready to experience Virginia or have any questions about our trail rides, give us a call at (540) 636-4523 or send us an email and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, feel free to print the trail ride agreement below, read it carefully and sign it (or have a parent or guardian sign, for riders under 18 years of age), and bring it with you on trail day to get out of the barn that much faster!

For separate fees, riding lessons  and horse training are also available.
